Sometimes it's awesome to watch a film that reminds you of how ridiculously awesome it is to party (or sometimes it's great to go out and have a lost weekend, but that's a whole other story). So, in my need to be entertained prior to going out I watched "The Boys And Girls Guide to Get Down".
This film is excellent, because where some movies fail to point out what partying is ("Get Him To The Greek", cute, but sorry, you FAIL), this movie is extremely specific and fall off your ass funny. So much in this film is completely recognizable. Also, the comedy was tight and fast. So real and uncensored that you could almost feel naughty about admitting that you've participated in this, and are jonesing to again very soon.
On another reckless youth note, a new Joel Schumacher is on it's way, and for a guy well into his 7th decade, he's always able to deliver on youthful abandon.
This film is called "Twelve" and is based off the novel by Nick McDonnell. Now I haven't read the book, and I don't know how much of this book or film is barking up the Bret Eaton Ellis tree (see "Less Then Zero" and "The Rules of Attraction" for proper reference), but I do know that it stars an actor all too familiar with playing a decadent, rich youth: Chace Crawford of "Gossip Girl" fame. It also stars Emma Roberts in her adult crossover and 50 Cent, making his transition from previously relevant, middle aged rapper to comfortably situated thespian.
Well, I'm looking forward to this flick, out next week, and while you're waiting get your decadent on with "Boys and Girls Guide", or any of the other flicks mentioned.
Hey, watch em while you're young... you'll regret watching them later.
